Cancellations and Closures CITY FACILITIES: CLOSED to the Public - All City of Chesapeake buildings and facilities, including City Hall, are now CLOSED to the public through March 27. All essential City services will be maintained. If you have need of a City service, please use the City's online services or call our Customer Contact Center at 757-382-CITY (757-382-2489). CITY COUNCIL: The City Council work session and meeting on Tuesday, March 17, are still scheduled to occur, and the public is welcome to attend. COURTS : Chesapeake Circuit Court's operating schedule has been posted to the Circuit Court's web page . The Circuit Court Clerk's office will maintain its normal schedule. For the General District Court or the Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court operating schedules, contact each court directly. SCHOOLS : Chesapeake Public Schools are closed for ALL STUDENTS from Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27. LIBRARIES: All Chesapeake Public Library branches will CLOSE to the public effective Monday, March 16 through March 27. All library programs and events are cancelled until further notice. PARKS, RECREATION AND TOURISM: All Community Centers will CLOSE to the public effective Monday, March 16 through March 27. All athletic activities permitted on City or School property through Parks, Recreation & Tourism as well as City-sponsored athletic leagues are suspended through March 27. Parks and playgrounds remain open for unorganized recreation. PUBLIC UTILITIES: The Public Utilities Department will suspend water cutoffs effective Monday, March 16. OTHER EVENTS (City & Private): Many events are or may be cancelled over the next several weeks. Be sure to check with event organizers to see if it is still taking place. Coronavirus Hotline Due to the overwhelming demand of COVID-19 phone calls at local Health Districts, a regional Coronavirus Customer Call Center has been established: 757-683-2745. Hotline hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Local State of Emergency Chesapeake City Manager Chris Price has declared a Local State of Emergency for the City of Chesapeake. While there are currently no reported cases of COVID-19 in Chesapeake, this declaration enables the City to begin to access resources which would be necessary should conditions change.
